On a crisp December morning, with cold air and snowflakes gently falling, volunteers began arriving early—long before the sun had fully risen. Weather could not dim the warmth in their hearts or dampen the purpose in their steps.

Before long, sidewalks were shoveled, canopies were raised and tarps laid out with care. Boxes filled with farm-fresh potatoes, onions, apples, butternut squash, and other produce were stacked high. Roasting chickens and savory pork roasts were packaged neatly, alongside bags filled with canned goods and pantry staples. Holiday decorations, festive treats, and Christmastime gifts soon filled the tables, ready to bring cheer to many households.

By 9:30 AM, the line of neighbors waiting circled the block—a poignant reminder of both the need and the great opportunity to serve. Throughout the delivery of 150 Christmas Blessing Food Packages, volunteers worked with joy and purpose. Laughter rang out and—at times—the cold morning air was filled with strains of holiday carols, voices united in both song and service.

A special thank you to the Newark Rotary for their tremendous generosity in gathering an abundance of groceries, allowing us to provide these holiday blessings to families who might otherwise have gone without. Partnerships like these embody the spirit of community, where hearts and hands join together to ensure no one is left out.

Gratitude and joy saturated the scene, not simply because of the material gifts shared, but because of the deeper gift—the Love of Christ extended to others. We serve not from obligation, but from the overflow of the love He first gave us.

As Scripture reminds us:

“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others.” 
– Hebrews 13:16

This day was not merely about giving food—it was about sharing hope, building fellowship, and proclaiming the message that Emmanuel, God with us, has come. The warmth of smiles, the heartfelt “Merry Christmas” greetings exchanged, and the joy of seeing burdens lifted, all bear witness to what happens when the Body of Christ lives out its calling.
